Robotic Prosthetic Knee
Powering Mobility for All
99% of prostheses in the world are non-powered prostheses, and users have many complaints such as being tired easily, fear of falling down, and not being able to walk beautifully. 70% of lower limb amputees are aged 60 years or older, and 70% of lower limb amputees have suffered from diseases such as diabetes. It is estimated that the 10 million amputees worldwide will continue to increase in number, so how to maintain and improve the QOL of amputees is an issue of great urgency.
BionicM Inc. is a mobility company that provides technology and related solutions for comfortable mobility. We are currently focusing on R&D of high-functioning artificial legs. We started to develop a robotic prosthesis which supports the movement of prosthetic leg users at the University of Tokyo in 2015, founded BionicM Inc. in 2018 and plan to commercialize the technology in 2020. We aim to contribute to the development of human mobility through the integration of robots and humans.
