  • Eco-SPRAY is one of the environmentally friendly products manufactured by EiShin Co., Ltd., whose mission is to care for nature, humanity, plants and animals. Like most additives claimed to improve car performance, eco-SPRAY cleans the engine. It allows cleaner combustion which translates into improved power and fuel efficiency as well as reduced emissions. The spray can be applied through the air filter from cars powered by gasoline, diesel or LP gas. Since 2012, 300,000 bottles have been distributed in 15 countries including China, Thailand, Canada, USA, UAE, Romania, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Iran, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Taiwan, and Japan.

  • MR-X is a ph.2.7 solution extracted from minerals, a kind of peat moss, taken from diatomaceous earth strata (ten meters below ground) that the deposition of chlorophyll-rich marine unicellular diatoms (sea kelp and plankton) was made a few hundred years ago.

    Phosphate fertilizers are commonly used to improve yields in agriculture. However, as phosphoric acid is bonded with iron and aluminum, phosphate fertilizers are absorbed poorly from roots. As MR-X easily bonds with iron and aluminum, it prevents phosphoric acid fixing. In other words, MR-X makes less-effective-phosphoric acid effective. It can be verified by observing thick white roots. Additionally, that balanced natural marine minerals influences plant growth has a positive influence for making enzyme and soil active significantly, and non vaporized sulfur is a trigger for antibacterial effect as well as growth and development.

    Accordingly, MR-X makes phosphoric acid active effectively, enables plants to increase its absorption while reduces crop disease. Consequently, less agricultural chemicals and phosphate fertilizers will be used. Also, activating plants leads to improve quality and yields. Moreover, MR-X will solve the widespread ground water contamination, which is caused by excessive usage of less-effective phosphate fertilizers, nitrogen fertilizers, herbicides and agricultural chemicals.

    Shinozuka (*) pointed out that antibacterial effect of MR-X might be manifested for coliform bacteria、staphylococcus aureus, and grass bacillus at low concentrations (50ppm).

    Also the characteristics of MR-X such as bonding-with-heavy metal and anti-bacterial effects can be applicable to water purification.

  • Energy Efficiency: A Multi-functional Ceramic Coating Material

  • The "Smart Water Turbine": Creating the innovative value using hydro energy

    Why hydropower?
    Hydropower is one of the fundamental energy resources capable of supporting a sustainable society. However, until now, it has not shown its full potential.
    The total length of agricultural irrigation canals in Japan is about 400,000 km (or 10 laps of the earth), and its annual stored water volume is said to be about 118 GWh (for 32,778 households). Agriculture is also thriving in the ASEAN countries, who have their own hydropower resources. The Smart Water Turbine is a technology developed to recover energy from sources such as agricultural waterways and apply it to smart agriculture using the power saving devices (Fig. 1, Fig. 2).

    Where is the demand?
    Hydropower with an output of less than 100 kW is referred to as “Micro Hydropower”. Such power generation technology was developed for the power sales business using the FIT (Feed-in Tarif) system. Many countries have similar policy to promote distributed energy system.
    However, conventional Micro Hydropower generators cannot be directly applied to smart agriculture as they are not compatible with the hydro energy of agricultural waterway. Smart Water Turbines, on the other hand, can recover unused energy from agricultural waterways and provide stable power even in remote areas such as mountain communities.

    How will lives improve?
    The unique benefit of the Smart Water Turbine is the capacity to supply its own stable small power to the power saving devices. When the power is used for network cameras, temperature sensors, motor etc. in smart agriculture, it is important to support small local digital infrastructure with no maintenance work (Fig. 3). The compact and high-output Smart Water Turbine requires no installation work, and can be used by anyone anywhere generating hydroelectric power.

    Technology overview
    Smart Water Turbine features an innovative impeller that can recover the kinetic energy of flow in little head such a river flow with high efficiency (Fig. 4). With this technology, the energy recovery rate in the high speed range is approximately twice as high as that of conventional turbines. In addition, the power transmission mechanism of the Smart Water Turbine is simplified by the high-speed rotation characteristics, which greatly contributes to weight reduction of the equipment.

    Advantages over similar technologies
    Among the renewable energy devices, hydropower generation can have overwhelmingly high energy recovery rate at 70% while 12% for solar power generation facilities or 20% for wind power generation. When compared at the same scale, the drag type Smart Water Turbine has better initial dynamic characteristics than lift type turbines such as the Darrieus turbine and the propeller turbine, and can reliably generate power even in shallow channels with low flow rates.

  • Guun Co., Ltd. recycles raw plastic materials to produce Fluff Fuels, which provide more eco-friendly, space-saving and affordable options as compared with other types of fossil fuels. Fluff Fuels have a calorific value of 6,500~8,000 kcal/kg and ash content of approx. 10%, and they are most often used as alternatives to coal or heavy oil in paper manufacturers in Japan and cement companies overseas.

    The name ”Fluff Fuel” comes from the word fluffy, and they are one of the highest grade of RDF (or Refuse Derived Fuel). The Fluff Fuels are produced through shredding, compressing and packaging (Baling) of:


    The weight of Fluff Fuel bale is about 560kg/piece.

    The current amount of waste plastic disposal is approx. 70 tons per day (TPD), which means the total amount of waste disposal and sales of Fluff Fuels is approx. 22,000 tons per year (TPY). The manufacturing facility started operations in 2008 has a processing capacity of 144 TPD.

    In 2013, the company successfully established a pilot project that created a recycling enterprise in Cebu, Philippines sponsored by JICA. It was taken over by Cebu City two years later and is still in operation today. The processing capacity of the pilot plant is 5 TPD.

  • The activated sludge process today was invented more than 100 years ago. One of the major problems of the process is the dominance of filamentous microorganisms, which cause “bulking” of the sludge. Dispersed-Microbes Process invented by HINODE SANGYO Co., Ltd. is a revolutionary technology that prevents the “bulking.” The Dispersed-Microbes Process employs a device called Hinode Microbubble Generator (HMB). The device generates microbubbles by efficiently dissolving oxygen in the water to enhance the activity of aerobic microorganisms. It reduces generation of excessive sludge to 75% and ensures smooth processing of highly contaminated wastewater. Installation of the device is easy, and it is both cost and energy efficient.

  • In 1996, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system was introduced in Japan. In this system, each step of food production process is scientifically analyzed for possible hazards to ensure product safety. This system, however, has increased the amount of detergents and pesticides used during food processing. The excessive amount of chemicals in wastewater resulted in weakening and killing of microbes, which decompose organic matters into carbon dioxide, water, and ammonia in the following activated sludge process. To address this issue, HINODE SANGYO Co., Ltd. has developed multiple solutions that enhance growth and use of microbes.
