As a proactive reaction to the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the UN General Assembly, the Government of Japan established ‘SDGs Promotion Headquarters’, headed by the Prime Minister, with the aim to ensure a whole-of-government approach and take a lead in implementing SDGs both domestically and internationally.
Given the fact that the 2030 agenda emphasizes the importance of utilization of STI (Science, Innovation, and Technology) to achieve SDGs, Cabinet Office of Japan has set the agenda for utilizing Japan’s STI to achieve SDGs on the global scale (‘STI for SDGs’).
Japan is aspiring to make full use of its STI resources as means of making global contribution towards the achievement of SDGs.
